We are a membership centred organization that exists to improve our quality of life by protecting our natural heritage and moving toward environmental sustainablility.

AWARE - The Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment is an entirely volunteer driven registered charitable non-profit organization. The organization was formed in 1989 with a mandate to push for a recycling program for the Resort Municipality of Whistler BC. We are active on environmental and sustainability issues in our valley, and in the fast vanishing wilderness in our backyard. The organization consists of an elected Board of Directors, members, and an executive board holding positions of President, 2 Vice-Presidents, and Treasurer. AWARE sees a sensible balanced approach to environmental sustainability as the only option for our future from both an environmental and economic point of view.

AWARE is the voice for the environment in the South Coast Mountain Range of British Columbia.

Although we focus our limited resources on our pro-active campaigns, we welcome other organizations or individuals who bring energy and passion to conservation and sustainability issues in this geographical area. We also have several committees active on many other important issues which do not fall into our active campaigns. What are you concerned about in our environment? We may be working on it already but we need your help.
